Dankesschreiben an FBK

Dear Ms. Giovannoni,

My name is Aliocha Faurisson and I am currently a student at Collége Calvin in Geneva, Switzerland. This summer, I have had the incredible opportunity to attend the Research Science Institute (RSI) 2025, sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I am extremely grateful to the FBK Bern Foundation for supporting my participation in this unique program.

Preparing for RSI was a journey in itself: I completed an online course in Python programming, read The Great Gatsby, and studied materials related to my future research project in visual attention. Since arriving in Boston, I have attended lectures from some of the most inspiring scientists and innovators, including experts in fields such as genetic engineering, quantum physics, and quantitative finance. I’ve also begun working on my mentorship project, which focuses on understanding how and why people sometimes fail to notice important visual information—errors that can have real-world implications in fields like radiology and security. Beyond academics, I’ve had the chance to explore Boston, take part in social activities with my fellow students, and build friendships with peers from around the world who share my passion for science.

I would like to sincerely thank you for your generous support of CEE, which made it possible for me to attend RSI. This experience has already broadened my horizons in countless ways, and I am confident it will shape both my academic path and future career. l am proud to represent Switzerland here and deeply grateful to the FBK Bern Foundation for believing in me and giving me the chance to be part of this remarkable program.

Sincerely,

Aliocha Faurisson
